What Is Hyperopia?

Good vision is a necessary part of an individual's overall well-being. A vision impairment can affect daily activities, work functions, recreation, and even hitting the gym. Hyperopia, also often known as farsightedness, is among the most common types of vision problems. Around 5 – 10 percent of people in the U.S. are affected by hyperopia. It is the decreased ability to see items that are at less than arm's distance, for example, books or images. Hobbies like sewing and even tasks like vacuuming can be quite challenging. Similar to myopia, farsightedness can be diagnosed as mild to extreme and can cause other frustrating symptoms that can impact you all the time. Luckily, there are multiple possible ways to treat your hyperopia.

At Texas State Optical Bandera, our knowledgeable team can determine if you have hyperopia and go over your possible treatment choices. Schedule your appointment at our San Antonio, TX practice for a full eye exam with leading optometrist Dr. Victoria Perez and get one step closer to getting better vision.

What Are the Treatment Options for Hyperopia?

Our exams for farsightedness aren't the only factor it shares with myopia. The effective treatment choices are also the same and allow individuals to choose either prescription glasses or contacts to accommodate their lifestyles. Dr. Perez often recommends that people opt for a combination of both to work with specific tasks. Certain patients with hyperopia could also be eligible for refractive surgery, for example, LASIK or PRK. After your evaluation, she can tell you whether refractive surgery is an effective choice for you. For patients who are candidates, laser vision correction can offer amazing, long-lasting clear vision.

My first eye exam in 20 years. It was the best experience I’ve ever had with eye exams. Because I’ve never worn glasses they made the decisions unbelievably easy. All of my needs and questions resolved in a very professional manner and yet it felt like we were just sitting down at the dinner table and talking.

I called and made an appointment and of course they were very prompt and accommodating with my needs. I absolutely love this office. They’re courteous helpful. Explain everything and terms that I understand. Always look out for the best financial option for me. Help me pick out the right pair of glasses for my face and my structure, so polite and helpful. I just cannot say how much I really like. Going to this office. They are the best

If you want to see friendly, caring and knowledgeable staff, you will find that at TSO- Bandera. In the past I have gone to the big chains, but never saw the same Dr. the next year. And often the name of the Dr I made an appt with was never the one I saw. I don't have terrible vision, but as I get older I realize how important it is and I need more continuity of care. You never really realize how bad the service is that you're getting until you go some place and experience superior service. If you're like me and your insurance just changed and you're deciding whether to stay with the big chains you've experienced or see what else is out there... I would encourage you to go to TSO- Bandera Rd, and I bet you will see that there is more for you than what you've been settling for. The Dr. is friendly and patient. I always feel such pressure with the, "Is 1 better or 2?" Sometimes neither seems good or they seem the same and all I can think about is making a wrong choice and not getting the prescription I need. I take so long because my vision is so important, and she never made me feel bad as I kept asking her to show me the choices again... and again. She could feel my angst and assured me it was okay and that no matter what I was going to get glasses that would work for me. I could tell she really cared and wanted the best for me. I believe God calls people to do what they love and care about people as a way to minister to others. In life, I think some people work a job and others are called to a ministry in their work and I believe you can tell the difference. I felt like all of the employees seemed to be called to a ministry through their work rather than just doing a job. They have a heart to serve people. The entire staff was friendly, patient and caring! I have found the continuity of care that I know I have needed. Independently owned companies that provide as good or better quality services than the conglomerates need to be supported by the local community. TSO-Bandera understands the art of the heart and truly values the meaning of service which is displayed by each staff member. This is not common in our world today and I felt the need to acknowledge their hard work and effort in wanting to do the best job possible because they clearly value people. I don't exactly know when our society started blurring the definition of and value of service, but this company still has the VISION to SEE what really matters. Thanks, TSO-Bandera staff. Never tire of doing good. I appreciate the service from the heart today...from all of you. If you are someone trying to make a decision on where to go for an eye exam and glasses, I believe you will appreciate the staff and service at TSO-Bandera, so don't hesitate to make an appointment and see for yourself. The reviews helped me to decide to go and the experience will keep me going back. I just want you to know that they are not fake reviews, and I felt the need to add one more because good service is hard to come by! TSO-Bandera is a great choice that will provide you with true service! DW : )

There is not enough space and not enough stars to describe the employees and the care provided by this young professional. If your not a patient here, you should be!
