Contact Lens and taking care of your eyes.

I wanted to give you a quick note on cleaning your contacts and contact lens case for good eye health.

Most of my contact lens patients know proper cleaning and maintenance of their contacts and do a great job.  But one of the things that I see from time to time is reusing contact lens solution.  What I mean by that is leaving the contact lens solution that is in the case and using it over and over, while maybe adding a little more to fill the case back up.  We wouldn't wash our dishes in yesterday’s used dirty dishwater. That is similar to what you are doing by leaving the old, dirty contact lens solution in your case!

After you clean your contact lenses and put them in the case to disinfect overnight, you do not want to reuse the contaminated solution again the next day.  After you put your lenses on, dump out the used solution and let your case air dry.  When you take out your contacts and clean them, put new, fresh, sterile contact lens solution in the case for your contacts to soak, disinfect, and moisturize until you wear them again.

If you have any questions call or email me at the office.
